Substitute Teaching

Substitute teaching is flexible part-time employment that can provide you with an income that works with your schedule. Being a Substitute Teacher also provides a much needed service for the students and teachers of Texarkana Independent School District. The goal is to continue classroom instruction in the absence of the teacher.

Substitute Teacher applicants are able to decide what days of the week they want to work, as well as the TISD campuses they would like to work on. We utilize an automated system, AESOP, to secure substitutes for teacher vacancies. AESOP communicates with Substitute Teachers about available assignments by telephone, email and internet website. Approximately 50% of all assignments are scheduled with at least two (2) days advance notice.
