    APPLICATION:
In order to be considered for employment as a Substitute Teacher in TISD, you must complete a Substitute Teaching Application (live link). You will also need to provide a copy of high school or college Transcripts. Your application will remain on file for one (1) year.

    INTERVIEW:
Substitute Teacher interviews begin at the start of each school year and continue until the Substitute List is full. Preference is given to Certified Teachers. The purpose of the interview is to assess readiness for substitute teaching and campus availability. Substitute interviews are conducted by the Human Resources Office.

    TRAINING:
Substitute Teacher Training sessions are scheduled throughout the school year as the need for Substitute Teachers increases. These are usually scheduled in Fall and early Spring. Only applicants who have been interviewed and selected for training are invited to attend. This training provides valuable information on school district procedures, legal information and classroom management. We encourage you to review the Substitute Teacher Handbook for more information.

    CRIMINAL HISTORY:
A Criminal History Authorization Form is completed as part of the online application process. A background check will be conducted and must be received clear prior to employment. Substitutes who are employed with TISD, per state requirements will be subject to a fingerprint background check at their own expense.

    REFERENCES:
Reference forms will be sent to the two (2) references listed on your application when an interview is scheduled. They must be received and rated satisfactory before employment can begin.
